FLAK REGIMENT 64 NCO'S SERVICE TUNIC

SOLD!

Nice quality Luftwaffe blue/grey wool (Gabardine) construction tunic features a vertical, four button, front closure with small fold back lapels and a lay down collar. The tunic has four, pleated, front pockets with straight edged button down flaps.

The right breast has a machine embroidered, second pattern, Luftwaffe eagle in silver/grey threads on a cut-out blue/grey wool base. The eagle is neatly handstitched to the tunic and sits very deep in the wool.

The straight cut, non-adjustable sleeves have French cuffs.

The tunic has sewn on shoulder straps in Luftwaffe blue/grey wool with bright red wool waffenfarbe piping and silver LW tresse. On both the shoulder boards is hand sewn the number of the Flak Regiment 64 in red cord; the units of this regiment fought from France to Leningrad, and from Balkans to Germany.

The lay down collar has the typical zig-zag reinforcement stitching to the reverse. The forward edge of the collar is trimmed in twisted bright red rayon cording. The collar has bright red wool collar tabs that has one rank gull applied and that are machine sewn to the collar. They both sit deep in the wool and they look to be untouched as the rest of the insigna.

The collar cording is handstitched in place while the collar tabs are machine stitched to the collar. There is a small repair on the left sleeve (please see pitures).

The interior of the tunic is fully lined grey rayon and has a horizontal slash pocket to the left breast panel.

The buttons are all the bright, silver washed, pebbled alloy type and appear to have their original stitching.

A nice quite matching overseas cap is available here: CLICK. The set would be a great display.
