RED PIPED LUFTWAFFE OVERSEAS CAP

SOLD!

Luftwaffe blue/grey, wool/rayon blend construction cap features fold down side and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops to the front and forward sides.

The top edge of the fold down panels are piped in twisted red rayon branch of service piping. So an EM/NCO of Flak. It is possible that the use of the colored twisted cord/piping on the flap of the overseas cap could be traced back to the DLV (= Deutscher Luftsportverband which constituted the embryo of the German Air Force) tradition that used overseas caps with colored piping.

The front center of the cap has a second pattern Luftwaffe eagle and a national tri-color cockade in black, white and red cotton threads. Both the eagle and the cockade are neatly handstitched in place.

The interior of the cap is fully lined in grey ribbed cotton; it is marked with black ink stamp by the maker, with the year (42) and the size (56).

Excellent condition.
