FELDHERRNHALLE M42 TUNIC

SOLD!

Very, very rare, "Feldherrnhalle" M42 tunic for a Unteroffizier (non-commissioned officer).

Field-grey, mid war wool/cotton blend construction field blouse with a lay down collar features a vertical, six button front closure.

The field blouse has two non-pleated front pockets with pointed edged button down flaps.

The right breast has a machine woven, late war pattern, national eagle in matte grey rayon threads on a woven, green rayon base. The eagle is hand sewn to the tunic, it has a matching patina with the rest and the thread used is the right period one made in cotton, but is it possible the eagle could at some point be replaced. Late pattern collar tabs, properly machine stitched to the collar.

"Felderrnhalle" Bevo cufftitle to the lower right sleeve is original to the jacket, machine sewn to it. Moving a little the cufftitle is well visible the dark shadow on the sleeve wool under it.

Shoulder straps, mid war type, have a pair of zinc "Feldherrnhalle" cyphers, drilled and hand sewn on them, originally attached and with a very neat shadow under them. Piping is white for Infantry unit. The tresse is the grey rayon type, perfectly matching the one sewn around the collar. Shoulder straps slips show the soldier was an officer candidate.

Internal cotton/rayon lining is complete, and markings from the "BULAC" are faded but still visible.

Also all the lining of the pockets down flaps are marked in back ink, and all the original marking are still visible. A very scarce characteristic to see on a tunic.

Minor usage, with a lovely great patina all over the tunic. A worn and extremely nice uniform. A M42 is indeed scarce to find on market, especially in this amazing condition.

A very rare, impressive, NCO combat "Feldherrnhalle" tunic you don't see everyday.
