"PANZER ABTEILUNG 103" VISOR CAP

SOLD!

Heer Panzer EM/NCO's Visor Cap (Schirmmütze). Visor caps were a standard item for all armed forces personnel during the Third Reich period. Although enlisted personnel were issued their caps from government supplies they were also permitted to purchase privately tailored caps. This is in a nice quality EM's visor cap vi approvation stamp. The celluloid sweat diamond is missing, the cap is 56 cm, the size stamp is still visible under the visor.

The leather sweatband is in good, slightly used condition, underneath the sweatband the cap is the unit approvation ("Gepr." that stands for "Gepruft") mark to the "4./P.A. 103" (Panzer-Abteilung 103). The Visor cap is piped in the pink piping for Panzer personnel. The cap is complete with it's original eagle and cocarde. The blackened patent leather chinstrap is in good condition. The cap is having some small moth signs on the top, but they are not well visible; see photos for more details.

The cap still has a nice shape.

The 103 Panzer Abteilung was created in 1942 and fought in Russland; it was destroied in the Stalingrad battle along with the 3rd Infantry Division. The regiment was re-built on march 1, 1943 and subordinated to the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Division and with this division the Panzer Abteilung 103 saw action in Italy.

Great and absolutely rare Panzer visor cap, belonged to one of the most famous Panzer units of the German Army in World War 2.

A great piece of history here.
