Nice quality private purchase, grey wool-trikot blend material construction tunic features a vertical, 5 button front closure.

The second top front closure button hole has an Iron Cross 2nd class ribbon inserted and handstitched in place.

The tunic has two pleated patch breast pockets and slash patch hip pockets. The left breast has the original loops for one award. The sleeves have fold back French cuffs. The upper left sleeve has an officer’s bullion hand made sleeve eagle. The eagle is neatly hand stitched to the sleeve. The tunic comes with a nice pair of infantry troops shoulder boards in matte silver/aluminum Russian braid with white wool waffenfarbe piping. The shoulder boards indicate the rank of SS-Untersturmführer.

The collar has a black wool rank collar tab to the left side with a black wool SS runic collar tab to the right side. The left hand side, black wool rank collar tab features three, stamped, aluminium rank pips. The right hand side black wool unit collar tab features hand embroidered SS runes in silver/aluminum wire threads. The runes are the very narrow type, often seen on foreign volunteers tunics.

Both of the collar tabs are neatly machine stitched to the collar and have a twisted silver/aluminum piping to the outside edges. Both sit deep in the collar wool.

On the right sleeve there is a cloth shield red and white with a nicely gold trimmed edge, indicating the tunic belonged to a Latvian volunteer. A neat shadow is visible under the shield.

The interior of the tunic is fully lined in grey-green rayon. The lining has one horizontal hip pocket for the sword or dagger hangers.

The buttons are the correct type with grey varnish.

The tunic shows some period use and wear and overall nice condition. Moth holes are visible here and there, please see pictures. Mothing doesn't affect the character of this great and Waffen-SS tunic.

An excellent and very rare Latvian Waffen-SS Officer tunic to find.
