WAFFEN-SS GEBIRGSJAEGER OFFICER TUNIC

SOLD!

Nice quality private purchase, grey wool-trikot blend material construction tunic features a vertical, 5 button front closure.

The second top front closure button hole has an Iron Cross 2nd class ribbon inserted and handstitched in place.

The tunic has two pleated patch breast pockets and slash patch hip pockets. The left breast has the original loops for two awards. The sleeves have deep fold back French cuffs. The upper left sleeve has an officer’s flat-wire made sleeve eagle. The eagle is neatly hand stitched to the sleeve. The tunic comes with a nice pair of Mountain troops shoulder boards in matte silver/aluminum Russian braid with green wool waffenfarbe piping. The shoulder boards indicate the rank of SS-Untersturmführer serving with a SS-Gebirgsjaeger unit.

The collar has a black wool rank collar tab to the left side with a black wool SS runic collar tab to the right side. The left hand side, black wool rank collar tab features three, stamped, aluminium rank pips. The right hand side black wool unit collar tab features hand embroidered SS runes in silver/aluminum wire threads. Both of the collar tabs are neatly machine stitched to the collar and have a twisted silver/aluminum piping to the outside edges. Both sit very deep in the collar wool.

On the right sleeve there is, machine sewn, a cloth Edelweiss. Important to note that the Edelweiss was sewn on the sleeve before the lining was added to the tunic, inside the sleeve is, in fact, not possible to see the back sewing.

The interior of the tunic is fully lined in grey-green rayon. The lining has one horizontal slash pocket and a another to the reverse of the left hip pocket for the sword or dagger hangers.

The buttons are the correct type with grey varnish.

The tunic shows some period use and wear and overall extermely nice condition.

An excellent and very rare Waffen-SS Officer tunic to find.

This tunic comes from a private collection and was NEVER offered on market before.
