LOT OF AN ITALIAN OFFICER IN AFRICA (2nd PART)

SOLD!

This is the second part we recently bought of the wonderful group of items belonged to Lieutenant Colonel Francesco Gennaro, that served in 46 Motorized Artillery Regiment of the 102 "Trento" Motorized Division.

The first part of the group can be seen here: http://www.militariatedesca.it/en/home/2609-ek1-lot-of-an-italian-officer-in-africa.html

The group consisting of an italian dagger called “Becco d'Aquila” in near mint condition, too bad the suspension chain is missing.

The first is a document of the First World War for the awarding of the “War Merit Cross” (Croce al merito di guerra). The name in the doc is “Franco” instead Francesco, it is possibly a mispelling or the second name of Francesco.

The second document dates back to the period of the war fought in North African territory by the Italian-German forces. In this context, Lieutenant-Colonel Gennaro distinguished himself on several occasions on the frontline, for actions of courage carried out during the heavy fighting in Tobruk and later El-Alamein. For this act of valour Lt. Colonel Gennaro received the Iron Cross First Class (See here: http://www.militariatedesca.it/en/home/2609-ek1-lot-of-an-italian-officer-in-africa.html).

This second part of the Gennaro estate comes out from Palermo, where Lieutenant-Colonel Francesco Gennaro lived.

A wonderful piece of history.
