NAMED U-BOOT COMMANDER UNIFORM GROUP

SOLD!

Stunning Kriegsmarine set belonged to Heinz Ehrich, a young U-Boot Commander with the rank of Oberleutnant zur See that served on the U-Boot 334.

Ehrich was in service with the U-334 and with this U-Boot he sunk 2 ships, for a total tonnage of 14,372 GRT. On April 1, 1943 he became commander of the U-334 and after only 2 months the U-Boot was sunk on 14 June 1943, in the North Atlantic south-west of Iceland, by depth charges from the British frigate HMS Jed and the British sloop HMS Pelican. Al lthe crew members were lost (47 dead). Ehrich died at the age of 29.

The jacket is made of dark blue trikot wool. There are five visable gilt KM buttons as well as a flap covered hip pocket on each side. The right breast has a hand embroidered gold yellow bullion KM eagle, handsewn to tunic. On the left side there ara a breast pocket as well as loops for 2 badges. On both sleeves we can see the rank stripes and the yellow star indicating it was a seaman.

Inside tunic is lined in black ribbed rayon with rayon lining in the arms. inside the breast innerpocket is still sewn the original tailor tag with the owner name and rank "Oblt. z. S. H. Ehrich". Very important detail: the tag is in scandinavian language and it matches with the period Ehrich was in the north with his U-Boot; a BeVo tag with the name "Ehrich" is also present on the overseas cap internal lining.

Tunic is in good condition, it has no holes, rips or tears, just a light wear and light patina.

The overseas cap is made in the classic deep navy blue wool/rayon. It features fold down side and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops to the front and forward sides. The front center of the cap has a yellow bullion hand embroidered eagle on a navy blue wool base. The eagle is neatly hand sewn to the cap. The front center of the fold down panels has a national bullion tri-color cockade, machine applied.

The interior of the cap is fully lined in black ribbed cotton/rayon. Cap has a very light patina and light signs of wear.

A very rare U-Boot Commander set, really impressive.
