"U-103" UNIFORM AND SIDE CAP SET

SOLD!

Stunning Kriegsmarine set of a Matrosenobergefreiter serving with the U-Boot 103, consisting of Jacket and overseas cap.

The jacket is made of high quality dark blue german wool. There are five visable gilt KM buttons (marked Maedicke 1939) as well as a flap covered hip pocket on each side. The right breast has a machine embroidered gold yellow KM eagle in cotton thread, handsewn to tunic. On the left side there are a breast pocket as well as loops for 2 badges. On the left sleeve we can see the rank chevron (for a Matrosenobergefreiter) and the yellow star indicating it was a seaman.

Inside tunic is lined in black ribbed cotton with rayon lining in the arms. Over the breast innerpocket are visible the owner initials "F.M.", the same one also present on the overseas cap internal lining.

Tunic is in good and worn condition, and have no holes, rips or tears, just wear and some minor usage stains here and here. It has a wonderful patina.

The overseas cap is made in the classic deep navy blue wool/rayon. It features fold down side and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops to the front and forward sides.

The front center of the cap has a yellow BeVo machine embroidered eagle in rayon on a navy blue wool base. The eagle is neatly factory sewn to the cap. The front center of the fold down panels has a national tri-color cockade, factory applied.

The interior of the cap is fully lined in black ribbed cotton/rayon and are visible the owner initials "F.M.". Size mark stamp in white ink is still partially visible. On the right side of the cap there is a well executed, hand made emblem of the U-103. Cap has a lovely patina and clearly signs of wear.

A very rare, possibly unique, combat U-Boat Matrosenobergefreiter set, really impressive.
