WAFFEN-SS OFFICER VISOR CAP

Splendid visored hat (Schirmmutze) for a Waffen-SS Infanterie officer.
Lightly worn example having a fashionable shape to the peak, the cap body is made of feldgrau gabardine wool, cap band is made of black velvet and with white wool piping, having a pliable black leather visor with some crazing to the finish.
The visor is fully lined in a soft ribbed grey colored rayon cloth, often found in SS headgears, it has a pliable tan colored leather sweatband which is machine sewn into place and still soft. Celluloid diamond is still in place, sewn on the lining.
Insignia includes a silvered zinc Totenkopf and eagle; a neat shadow is visible under them.
The visor was slightly worn and it shows a soft age toning and wear, with minor moth parts (see pictures!), it is absolutely free of tracking or repair. Chincords were period applied to the cap.
A very rare piece with an extremely pleasing appearance.
