NAMED SS GENERAL OVERCOAT

SOLD!

Here is one of the most impressive items you can add to your collection. A named General SS Overcoat.

This overcoat is a superb example, tailored made in fine trikot and rayon with grey wool inserts. The coat is in excellent condition, just a couple of very small moth holes in the grey wool.

It is fully lined with grey/light brown rayon, and both the tailor label and the tailor tag with name are still in place; the name tag shows the writing: "SS-BrigF. Hellwig O." Tailor that made this coat was located in Berlin, exactly where Hellwig worked until the last days of the war.

The coat never had collar tabs, but had an arm eagle that was, at some point, removed (following the story it was removed by the family). It belonged to SS General Otto Hellwig, a General in the infamous SD, here are some links with his history:

This is a museum piece; to find a SS General Overcoat is something very rare, and this one has the bonus that has the name inside, so the owner was known.

A top piece.
