EARLY (PRE-WAR) SS OVERCOAT

This is an incredibly rare pre-war SS overcoat, made in field-grey czech wool and dated 1939.
From 1937 all the SS units had the previous earth grey and earth brown overcoat phased out, and replaced with the field grey pattern that was worn in their place.
The one showed here has hand sewn collar tabs, and a wonderful, early, arm eagle, that is factory machine sewn to the sleeve have a matching patina and sits into the wool.
All around the collar there's the silver/black twisted piping.
Shoulder boards were, at some point, removed from the overcoat; they were the sewn on type.
The overcoat show complete lining, made in ribbed cotton/rayon, and all the markings are a little faded but still readable: "VA 1939" and size ones, all made in black ink.
The condition is excellent, the overcoat shows a lovely patina, some usage, and it has no tears, no holes.
A SS pre-war greatcoat is indeed very rare to see offered on market.
