WAFFEN-SS "CRUSHER" STYLE VISOR CAP

Splendid old style "crusher" visored hat for a Waffen-SS Infanterie officer.
Lightly worn example having a fashionable shape to the peak, the cap body is made of feldgrau wool, cap band is made of black velvet and with white wool piping, having a pliable black leather visor with some crazing to the finish.
The visor is fully lined in a soft ribbed blue colored rayon cloth, often found in SS headgears, it has a pliable tan colored leather sweatband which is machine sewn into place and still soft.
Insignia includes a silvered zinc Totenkopf and eagle; the set is mismatched, but there are no signs of other insignia ever having been applied; a neat shadow is visible under them.
The "Crusher" was slightly worn and it shows a soft age toning and wear, it is absolutely free of tracking, mothing or repair. Chincords were period applied to the cap.
A very rare piece with an extremely pleasing appearance.
