EARLY SD OVERCOAT

SOLD!

This is an incredibly rare SD overcoat, made in field-grey wool and dated 1938.

From 1937 all the SS units had the previous earth grey and earth brown overcoat phased out, and replaced with the field grey pattern that was worn in their place.

The one showed here is complete with all his insigna, that have a matching patina and they aòò are sitting into the wool. They look to be period applied.

The shadows and the difference on the wool hair lenght perfectly match with the presence of these collar tabs, that are machine sewn to the collar, as it is machine sewn, with the typical zig-zag style, the arm eagle. All around the collar there's the silver-black twisted piping.

Shoulder boards are sewn into the shoulders and they are the rigid type, reinforced with cardboard.

The SD sleeve diamond is hand sewn.

The overcoat show complete lining, made in ribbed cotton/rayon, and all the markings are faded but still readable: "VA 1938" and size ones, all made in black ink.

The condition is excellent, the overcoat shows a lovely patina, light usage, and it has no tears, no holes.

A early greatcoat of SD units is indeed very rare to see offered on market. An amazing piece of history.
