MINESWEEPER BADGE MARKED "R.S.S."

SOLD!

Early Minesweeper badge constructed in Tombak, with gilt and silver washes.

The badge is in the form of a gilt washed, vertically oval, oak-leaf wreath with a national eagle, with outstretched wings, clutching a canted swastika superimposed to the top center, encompassing silver washed, horizontal waves and a cut-out, vertical, exploding, water funnel.

The reverse of the badge has the typical hinge, a broad, tapering, vertical pin and catch; hardware setup perfectly works.

The reverse is well marked with embossed manufacturer's initials, "R.S.S.", indicating manufacture by the well known Richard Simm & Sohne of Gablonz a.d.N.

Badge has a very nice patina.

R.S.S. Minesweeper badges are not easy to find on market.
