CLOSE COMBAT CLASP IN BRONZE F&BL

A textbook bronze Close Combat Clasp by the maker Funcke & Bruninghaus of Ludenscheid.
It is constructed out of a die struck, zinc-alloy base that has been bronze washed. The obverse depicts a crossed model 24 grenade and K98 bayonet with oak leaves, acorns and lined rays all beneath a Heer open winged eagle clutching a swastika in its talons. The reverse of the badge correctly displays; the upside down "F&BL" embossed maker mark.
It has the correct tombak catch, hinge and sturdy coke bottle pin. The pin, hinge and catch all work well. The plate is steel and magnetic. It has the correct second pattern die (see the bayonet).
The badge depicts beautiful details throughout and the finish is still present well visible.
