SS GEBIRGSJÄGER FIELD CAP (BERGMÜTZE)

SOLD!

Very rare field-grey, wool/cotton blend construction cap, features fold down back and side panels with a downward scalloped front edge and forward sides and a single, molded, tan bakelite button front closure.

The interior of the cap is fully lined in ribbeded, grey/brown cotton/rayon. The lining shows faded markings in black ink (it looks to be the size inkstamp that appears to be "58").

Metallic vent holes are the correct mid/late war type and the sweatband leather is still soft.

Insigna are the Bevo type, both eagle and skull are hand stitched to the front side of the cap. Everything looks period made, considering the thread used, the patina and the shades under the insigna.

On the left side an Edelweiss is hand stitched to the cap.

This is not a M43 upgraded or turned into a SS-Gebirgs (mountain troops) one, it is the real SS-Gebirgs field cap.

Cap shows usage, and has a great patina.
