"FALLSCHIRMJÄGER" (PARA) FLIEGER BLOUSE

SOLD!

Second pattern, EM/NCO’s flight blouse with external hip pockets. This Luftwaffe blue/grey, wool/rayon blend construction flight blouse features a vertical, five button, French fly, front closure with the buttons on the right front panel and small vertical slashes and corresponding button eyelets on the left front panel.

The flight blouse has small, fold back lapels and a lay down collar with a single metal hook and eye positioned at the forward neckline.

The right breast has a second pattern, machine embroidered Luftwaffe eagle in silvery/grey threads on a cut-out Luftwaffe blue/grey wool base. Eagle is original zig-zag machine stitching to the tunic.

The flieger blouse has two, slightly diagonally angled, slash, front hip pockets with rounded front corner, button down flaps. The waistline side seams each have three, vertically aligned, stitched eyelets for the belt support hooks.

On the left breast tunic has hand sewn a cloth Para Badge that sits in the wool very well.

The flight blouse has slip on shoulder straps in Luftwaffe blue/grey wool with golden yellow rayon waffenfarbe piping. The shoulder strap fabric retaining loops and buttons are all intact. The lay down collar has the typical zig-zag reinforcement stitching to the reverse. The left, reverse side of the lay down collar has an extended horizontal, button holed fabric tab with a corresponding button and an additional two buttons positioned under the right collar for secure closure in inclement weather.

The collar patches are hand stitched, each collar tab has two matching aluminium rank gulls with brass prongs penetrating the collar. The shoulder straps and collar tabs indicate the rank of Gefreiter serving with a Para/flight unit.

The interior of the flight blouse is partially lined in blue/grey rayon and ribbed cotton. The lining features a horizontal slash, patch pocket with a single button closure to each breast panel. Left internal pocket is stamped in black ink with size and maker information, it is also visible the LBA stamp and 43, indicating Luftwaffenbekleidungsamt (Air-Force Clothing Depot, 1943).

The Flieger Blouse shows some usage and a nice patina.

A great tunic.
