M42 "DER SPIESS" GEBIRGSJAGER TUNIC
M2 field/grey tunic, made in wool/rayon, in great conditions, for a Gebirgsjäger "Der Spiess" Oberfeldwebel.
Field-grey, wool/rayon blend construction field blouse features a vertical, six button front closure with a single metal hook and eye positioned at the neckline.
The field blouse has six button front closure, has four, non-pleated, front pockets with pointed edged button down flaps.
Collar tabs/litzen and the breast eagle look to be original machine stitched to the tunic.
Gebirgsjäger Edelweiss badge is hand stitched to the upper right sleeve.
Comes with a very nice original pair of Gebirgsjäger shoulder straps. Buttons look to be mostly original stitching and marked "A & S".
Tunic shows period modifications, like the modified collar (dark green) and the interior that is lined with grey/light brown rayon. The 2 stripes of tresse are machine sewn to the sleeves and they were sewn, during the modification of the jacket, inside the vertical sleeve stitching.
On the left breast pocket there are 2 loops for a badge. On the second buttonhole there's an EK2 ribbon hand sewn.
Big size, not common to find.
Tunic shows a good period wear and use and has the expected patina.
A great combat tunic.
