EARLY ALLGEMEINE-SS TUNIC "1"

This one is an impressive early quality Allgemeine-SS NCO Tunic from the most famous, andd first, SS-Standarte.

Tunic is constructed with nice smooth black wool, it features a collar fully trimmed with twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire and black cord piping. The same piping is also used on the collar tab for the rank of SS-Hauptscharführer (Sergeant Major) and on the bullion wire made tab with number of the Standarte "1" (of the city of Munich). The 1st Standarte was formed from the initial Staffel established in 1925 and it was commanded by Josef "Sepp" Dietrich.

Both the tabs are nicely machine sewn to the collar.

The single shoulder board, on the right shoulder, is the correct two-toned silver/black period type for the rank of NCO.

On the left sleeve tunic has a nice wool quality, multi piece contructed, SS armband tightly stitched; on the right sleeve it shows the SS honor chevron insignia for old guard, constructed of a black rayon V-shaped patch bearing silver aluminum wire tresses.

The left sleeve bears a RZM style cufftitle with the number "8". The cufftitle is machine sewn to the tunic.

One set of award loops is on pocket area (possibly for a sport badge). The tunic closes with four pebbled, silvered, metal buttons on front marked "Steinhauer & Luck" (Lüdenscheid). The reverse of the tunic features dual pebbled, silvered, metal belt hooks and two additional belt hooks are on each flank; these belt hooks are marked "RZM 36/38 SS".

The interior is fully lined with fine black ribbed cotton. There is a single interior pocket. The manufacturer’s tag is of "S&S – Christian Schwarz & Sohne - München". Sleeves are lined with striped rayon fabric.

Overall excellent condition, no tears, no holes, showing just light service wear.

An amazing piece of history, only seldom offered on market.
