GROUND ASSAULT BADGE "M.u.K. 5"
Specimen of the famous "Ground Combat Badge" of the Luftwaffe (Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe) marked by the rare manufacturer "M.u.K. 5" (Metall und Kunststoff).
This award was established in 1942 for all the members of the LW Ground Divisions (Feld-Divisionen) who had been engaged in military operations in support of the land armed forces, including paratroopers. However, the award criteria included involvement in different war actions, injury or death in these actions.
The badge, made of zinc, keep most of its original finish and shows signs of corrosion, hook and pin are perfectly working and the eagle, made of zinc, is fixed on the badge built therefore in 2 pieces through three rivets and keeps almost completely its original finish.
The badge is marked on the back by the manufacturer "M.u.K. 5" and, while showing the signs of aging, it is a rather rare badge.
