"LAH" SS OFFICER COMBAT TUNIC
Great combat Waffen-SS officer tunic, in german wool, for the rank of SS-Obersturmführer of the 1st Waffen-SS Division, the most famous one, the "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler".
Tunic is a private purchase one, with its original insigna machine stitched. All the insigna is IMO period applied. Both the collar tabs are machine stitched, the rank collar tab was, at some point, partially removed, I think to upgrade the rank.
On the left arm there’s a hand made bullion eagle, hand stitched.
Tunic is made in mid-war german wool and it has the right 5 buttons, and the point shaped collar, typical of the SS tunics.
On the left sleeve a flat wire "Adolf Hitler" cufftitle is machine sewn. Around the cufftitle is still possible to see the difference on the wool, typical of the presence of the cufftitle from wartime. All the insigna are matching in patina with the rest of the tunic.
Tunic was used in the field, from a real combat officer (see the loops for the awards on the left pocket) but it is still in nice conditions. An EK2 ribbon is hand sewn to the second button hole in the proper manner.
Inside is fully lined in grey rayon; on the left chest is still attached a cotton tag with red embroidered letters "N.K.", the owner initials. I didn't make any research on the officer's initials, but it is something the new owner should do!
A very rare tunic to find with these characteristics and in these conditions.
A top SS uniform.
