CLOSE COMBAT CLASP IN BRONZE
A textbook bronze Close Combat Clasp by the famous "Funcke & Brüninghaus" of Lüdenscheid.
It is constructed out of a die struck, zinc-alloy base that has been bronze washed. The obverse depicts a crossed model 24 grenade and K98 bayonet with oak leaves, acorns and lined rays all beneath a Heer open winged eagle clutching a swastika in its talons. The reverse of the badge correctly displays the "F&BL" embossed maker mark.
The pin, hinge and catch all work well.
The badge depicts beautiful details throughout and the finish is still almost complete.
An excellent example.
